The Rose of Sharon is a Rolling Meadows Garden Center
favorite. It's an easy-to-grow, undemanding plant that loves to live in
either full sun or partial shade. It does well in moist, well-drained
solid but is very tolerant of many growing conditions, including drought and
pollution. The Rose of Sharon is very hearty and there are actually very
few pests that can bother the plant.
Wondering when to plant? Right now is perfect in
addition to the spring and fall. The plant tends to leaf out somewhat
late in the springtime, but sometimes takes is time and is slow to start in the
growing season.
